The Mauritshuis is home to the best Dutch paintings from the time of Rembrandt and Vermeer. Famous paintings such as Vermeer's Girl with a Pearl Earring, The Anatomy Lesson by Rembrandt and The Goldfinch by Fabritius await you here. Female painters were rare at the time, so the still lifes by Peeters and Ruysch are quite unique.

He was a pioneer in many fields and introduced several new themes to Dutch painting. He created the first floral still life in the Netherlands and was the most important painter of the legendary (extinct) dodo. He was also the first artist to take to the streets to paint ordinary people. His painted landscapes are often like a fairy tale, with ancient ruins and wonderful vistas. And his animal paintings include so many species that it would be an understatement to describe them as 'crowded'.
Roelant Savery's Wonderful World, with over 40 paintings and drawings, including works from museums in the Netherlands and abroad, will introduce visitors to this extremely versatile artist.
