A new chapter full of timbres and energy: Omer Klein returns to the Grand Hall of the Elbphilharmonie with his newly formed sextet, The Poetics, expanding the expressive world of his acclaimed trio into a polyphonic, boundless jazz cosmos.

When the music of jazz pianist Omer Klein, born in Israel in 1982, is described as "boundless" (New York Times), this is meant quite literally: Klein composes for solo piano and big band, for jazz trio and orchestra, for theater, dance, and film. With the Omer Klein Trio, he has regularly thrilled audiences in Hamburg in recent years. Now he is doubling down – returning to the Great Hall with his newly formed sextet, The Poetics, featuring two saxophones and percussion.

The core of the new sextet consists of his long-standing trio colleagues: bassist Haggai Cohen-Milo and drummer Amir Bresler, both of whom he has known since his school days. Together with them, he created his distinctive music, which is influenced by so many styles—from traditional Jewish music to contemporary jazz and classical music—and has won numerous awards.

The Poetics, which first took to the stage in spring 2025 at Klein's residence in the Alte Oper Frankfurt, now takes the music into new sonic realms. However, the infectious grooves and memorable melodies that have always characterized Klein's music remain intact. His love of Brazilian and African music is also reflected in the new compositions.
