Small monuments with a big impact: to mark the 75th anniversary of the Saxony-Anhalt State Coin Cabinet, the Moritzburg Art Museum in Halle (Saale) is presenting the city's history in embossed form in "Halle handy" - multifaceted, charming and tangible.
The exhibition presents around 150 medals from 500 years. They reflect the history of the city on the Saale and the admiration, wishes and hopes of its inhabitants. The rich collection of the Moritzburg Art Museum in Halle (Saale) is complemented by current works by Halle sculptors. In addition, all Halle residents were invited to create small monuments for their city. The exhibition shows the charming, the imperfect and, of course, the beautiful aspects of the city in a handy focus. It offers a multifaceted picture of its historical personalities, its landmarks and its institutions. They are small monuments and at the same time intimate witnesses to the attitude to life.
Founded in 1950, the Saxony-Anhalt State Coin Cabinet in the Moritzburg Art Museum in Halle (Saale) is one of the twenty largest universal numismatic institutes in Germany with its rich collection. The exhibition honors the 75th anniversary of the founding of this important collection.
