A life between passion and social ostracism: in Verdi's "La traviata", director Ute M. Engelhardt tells the tragic story of a woman who risks everything for love - and is broken by it.
Under the musical direction of Andreas Schüller, a moving opera experience full of intensity and emotion unfolds.
Violetta is a cheerful woman who lives in the highest circles of society. She falls in love with Alfredo, a young man from a good family, who gives her his sincere love. But her future is threatened by social conventions: Alfredo's father considers the relationship inappropriate and puts Violetta under massive pressure. Violetta makes one of the most difficult decisions of her life: she leaves Alfredo without telling him why. Offended, he believes she has betrayed him and humiliates her publicly. Only later does he learn the truth. When he rushes to her, it is too late - Violetta dies in his arms.
The opera vividly shows how social constraints can destroy personal happiness and how deadly this burden can be for the individual. Verdi's poignant music turns the story into an emotional masterpiece.
