Five outstanding musicians present themselves at Muth in Vienna, bringing the piano quintets by Webern, Beach and Schumann to life with great passion and precision. Sophie Heinrich and Benjamin Ziervogel on the violins, Nora Romanoff-Schwarzberg on the viola, Matthias Bartolomey on the cello and Maria Radutu on the piano form an ensemble of the highest musical quality that will take you on an impressive journey of sound.
What do all three compositions have in common? The rebelliousness, the foreboding of new times, their courage!
Schumann's famous piano quintet combined the piano with a string quartet for the first time. Anton von Webern's quintet is still reminiscent of Brahms, while the timbres already herald the dawn of a new musical age. They are joined by the pioneer Amy Beach, the first female composer in America, whose compositions were already performed and admired during her lifetime.
