With four sections and a lively scene, Theater Magdeburg is a cultural powerhouse - where musical theater, drama, dance and concerts merge into a vibrant experience in the heart of the city.

Theater Magdeburg was formed in 2004 from the merger of the municipal theater with the Freie Kammerspiele and is now one of the most important four-genre theatres in Germany. Independent ensembles for music theater, ballet, concert and drama characterize the repertoire and offer a broad spectrum - from major operas and contemporary dramas to experimental formats.

The opera house on Universitätsplatz, originally built in 1907 as the Centraltheater, serves as the main venue for musical theater and concerts and was extensively modernized after being destroyed in the war and a fire in the 1990s. At the same time, the Schauspielhaus on Otto-von-Guericke-Straße is home to the dramatic program - from classics to contemporary plays and world premieres.

A special highlight is the DomplatzOpenAir: every summer, the Domplatz opens up for large open-air productions of musicals, opera and theater - an event that attracts hundreds of spectators to the city center every year. Magdeburg Theatre is also characterized by its close connection to the city: Educational formats such as Klubkultur, Bürgerinnenbühne and workshops open the stage to everyone, not just spectators.

A visit to Theater Magdeburg promises not only artistic diversity, but also a lively encounter with voices, spaces and impulses that help shape and characterize Magdeburg's urban cultural life.
