The painter Deix and the humorous Berg - rediscover the two artists!

Both Manfred Deix (1949 - 2016) and Werner Berg (1904 - 1981) observed their fellow human beings closely and developed characteristic figures with a high recognition value from the very first sketches. When Deix places his figures in an old-masterly setting, as in "Endlich in Pension", he not only distinguishes himself as a gifted cartoonist, but also as a talented painter. The "Smiling Old Woman", whose facial expressions mean more than just a simple smile, again illustrates the little-known humor of the painter Berg.
Werner Berg is one of the most famous Austrian artists of the 20th century. The landscape and the people of his adopted home of Lower Carinthia define his work. On the occasion of the Carinthian Provincial Exhibition 2020, the Werner Berg Museum in Bleiburg realized an exhibition with works by Berg and Deix together with the Caricature Museum Krems and Marietta Deix. You can see an excerpt of this in the excursus on the exhibition "I Love Deix".
