A concert that puts Bach's music in a completely new light: "Bach in Space" combines live piano with fascinating NASA images to create an audiovisual experience that goes far beyond a classical recital.
Distant galaxies, starry nebulae and deep black spatial structures pass by on the big screen, while Mona Asuka - one of the most distinguished pianists of her generation - shapes Bach with a mixture of clarity, energy and subtle expression. The razor-sharp recordings, normally only known from scientific archives, here meet the timeless architecture of Bach's music and create an atmosphere that is both contemplative and overwhelming.
The program ranges from parts of the "Well-Tempered Clavier" to variations from the "Goldberg Variations" and excerpts from the "Italian Concerto". The combination of image and sound lends these works an almost cinematic dimension and makes them seem as if they have been newly created. The project has already attracted a great deal of attention in Munich - now it is coming to Freiburg for the first time, bringing a format to the stage that elegantly combines classical music and modern visual worlds.
"Bach in Space" is therefore not the usual piano recital concept, but an immersive experience that appeals to music lovers and astronomy fans alike - an evening that shows how far sound and imagination can travel together.
