An evening full of longing and seduction: the Stuttgart Philharmonic Orchestra invites you to "Große Reihe 5 - Staunen", a program that listens deeply to the emotions and at the same time unfolds great sound power. Under the direction of Andrey Boreyko, the musical journey takes us on a journey through overarching themes and combines works that awaken our sense of wonder - from the death of love to artistic temptation.

At the center is the Prelude and Liebestod from Tristan und Isolde by Richard Wagner: a powerful depiction of insatiability and redemption, whose harmonic innovation opened the way to modern musical sensibilities. This is followed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Piano Concerto in A major KV 488 with the outstanding pianist Yeol Eum Son - a piece full of elegance and depth, with a sound world that makes poetic use of clarinet colors. Finally, the symphony "Mathis der Maler" by Paul Hindemith, inspired by the famous Isenheim Altarpiece - a work about the role of art, about mourning, temptation and overcoming. And in between, the orchestrated version of "Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme", after Johann Sebastian Bach and orchestrated by Granville Bantock, resounds with solemn depth and spiritual breadth.

An evening that invites you to pause, opens up sound spaces and makes amazement tangible - to be seen on January 17, 2026 from 19:30 in the Beethoven Hall of the Liederhalle.
