An evening full of tonal colors and musical highlights: The City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra performs in the Beethoven Hall of the Kultur- & Kongresszentrum Liederhalle in Stuttgart.
The concert, conducted by Kazuki Yamada and featuring the outstanding pianist Bruce Liu at the piano, opens with a powerful and colorful prelude: Orb and Sceptre by William Walton unfolds a British orchestral sound of imposing presence and majestic aura. This is followed by the famous Piano Concerto No. 1 in B flat minor op. 23 by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky - with Bruce Liu in top form: his playing combines elegant lightness with sizzling tension and is thus ideally suited to the spirited yet lyrical character of this piano concerto.
This combination creates a tonal dialog between tradition and expressivity, between British orchestral painting and Russian heartfelt outbursts. Those who experience this concert can look forward to an intense interplay of musical colors, tonal surprises and exceptional virtuosity - an evening to remember.
