With Baltic Sea Fellowship, Kunsthalle Rostock opens a new window onto the artistic diversity of the Baltic Sea region. The exhibition places artistic positions from the international Baltic Sea environment in direct relation to contemporary artistic issues and at the same time promotes exchange within the region.

At the heart of the project is an international fellowship scholarship, which is awarded in cooperation with the Künstlerhaus Lukas in Ahrenshoop. During a two-month working stay, professional artists from the Nordic and Baltic countries develop new projects, which are then presented at the Kunsthalle Rostock in the so-called Lab Space—the museum's experimental exhibition space. This working and exhibition process makes Baltic Sea Fellowship a platform for artistic research, intercultural encounters, and aesthetic redesigns in the context of the Baltic Sea region.

The exhibition invites visitors to experience artistic explorations of themes such as space, identity, history, and the sea in a wide variety of forms of expression. The combination of residency and exhibition creates a direct link between work processes and exhibition practice, showing how contemporary art draws its inspiration from the geographical, political, and cultural contexts of the Baltic Sea region. Baltic Sea Fellowship makes artistic networks visible and sets new accents in the Kunsthalle's internationally oriented exhibition tradition—as a place where artistic creation and cultural exchange can be experienced firsthand.
