With the INNOspaceEXPO "ALL.täglich!" (ALL.everyday!), the German Space Agency is presenting an exhibition at phanTECHNIKUM that focuses public attention on the innovation and transfer potential of space travel. Research for space travel and research in space are key to innovations that also open up a wide range of new perspectives for life on Earth and influence all our lives.
Many innovations that benefit people on Earth originated in space travel and space research. Velcro, personalized progressive lenses, daily weather reports, live television broadcasts, and navigation systems are just a few examples of technologies that are commonplace today but would not exist without space exploration or research conducted under space conditions (for example, aboard the International Space Station, ISS).
Such transfer potential affects key areas of everyday life: medicine, mechanical engineering, security, energy, agriculture, food technology, mobility, and transportation. The INNOspace initiative, launched in 2013 by the German Space Agency at DLR, promotes cross-sector knowledge and technology transfer and supports space industry players in meeting the challenges of the NewSpace economy.
