The history of the Slovak National Theater Ballet began in May 1920 with the performance of Delibe's Coppélie and Dvořák's Slavonic Dances. The SND Ballet is a repertory theater whose seasonal offer consists of dozens of ballet titles with an emphasis on classical works, supplemented by neoclassical and contemporary ballet art, with great interest in children's audiences. The programme is expanded every year with guest performances by Slovak and foreign ensembles and a gala evening, and every two years the music-theatre festival Eurokontext.sk takes place, organized by the SND Opera and Ballet.

An extremely successful project for the audience, in which academic and folk dance face each other amicably on the stage. Two of Bratislava's largest professional dance ensembles - the Ballet of the Slovak National Theatre and the Slovak State Traditional Dance Ensemble SĽUK - offer the best of their repertoire in a jointly compiled program in an effort to present the beauty of different dance genres.

The dancers of the Slovak National Theatre Ballet will perform the audience's favorite choreographies from the classical and modern repertoire, and SĽUK will contribute to the program with the most beautiful dance fragments representing the rich Slovak folk heritage. Soloists and members of both ensembles will present side by side their interpretative mastery and a wide range of movement genres in choreographies that will delight lovers of the art of dance.
