InSugar Rush, dance transforms the physical exertion of work into the delightful fruits of pleasure. Inspired by the traditional act of stomping grapes—a truly Rhine-Hessian motif—the choreography explores the interplay between collective labor and individual satisfaction.
Repetitive, rhythmic gestures create a sense of togetherness, a shared pursuit of a tangible result. This collective effort produces nectar that awakens the senses: a symbol of leisure, deliciousness, and an altered reality! What begins as disciplined work develops into an intoxication of the senses. In this work, tanzmainz breathes new life into the ancient process of transforming work into pleasure.
Marco da Silva Ferreira, another important figure in Portugal's sensational dance scene, is coming to the Mainz State Theater. Following his international success with Carcaça—a guest performance at the tanzmainz festival 2025—he will createSugar Rush, his first full-length choreography for an ensemble in Germany.
