When the moon disappears and no one has time to dream, a fairytale adventure full of humor, courage and imagination begins: A giant alone does not lift a moon to the sky is a poetic plea for the power of pause.

Emi loves her vacation with her Aunt Tulsi - finally rice pudding, daydreaming and moonlit walks at night. Here she gets to do everything she doesn't get to do at home: dream, marvel and simply do nothing. But not everyone likes that. The mayor of the small town has decided that working is more important than dreaming - and suddenly the moon disappears. The days seem to go on forever, time gets out of joint and nobody knows how to stand still any more.

Emi sets out to get the moon back - together with her aunt, a good-natured giant and a cunning fox. Together they confront the forces that have thrown the world out of balance and prove that sometimes imagination and solidarity are stronger than duty.

Author Lisa Krusche, a graduate of the "Literary Writing" course in Hildesheim, has written her first play, Ein Riese allein hebt kein Mond an den Himmel - a humorous, imaginative adventure about courage, friendship and the value of dreaming. Created as part of the "Nah dran!" funding program of the Kinder- und Jugendtheaterzentrum and the German Literature Fund, the world premiere at the Thalia Theater Halle brings poetic children's and family theater to the stage that appeals to the heart and mind in equal measure.
