A special kind of nativity play: PROPRIETÀ PRIVATA: Die Influencer Gottes kommen! at the Volksbühne Berlin shakes up old myths and raises questions about ownership, community and faith in the midst of our present day.

The evening begins like a grotesque Christmas production: with Sophie Rois as St. Francis, "the jugglers of God" descend - a kind of devilishly charming influencer troupe that confronts us with choirs of angels, an orchestra and a relic of St. Carlo Acutis bought on eBay. But the holy atmosphere is deceptive: outside, cranes are falling from the sky, "techno-feudalism" threatens to take us back to the Middle Ages, and land and property are being privatized piece by piece.

Under the direction of Christian Filips, the ensemble performs a collage of myth, provocation and absurd theater - a mission against the "Christmas depression" and the stagnant society. Free of sentimentality, the production shows how relevant old stories are when property, power and spirituality are renegotiated. The interplay of music, choir and dramatic stage creates an evening that provokes, irritates - and unites.
