With his newly developed production of the greatest classic in ballet history, Stefano Giannetti gives the audience a glimpse behind the scenes of a dance ensemble, revealing emotions and intrigues and showing how closely these are linked to artistic creation.

Although Tchaikovsky composed the music forSwan Lakelong before his other ballets,Sleeping BeautyandThe Nutcracker, this ballet fairy tale only received the attention it deserved after his death. Since Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov helpedSwan Lakeachieve its breakthrough in 1895, the dramatic music has repeatedly challenged choreographers and dancers to rethink this epitome of classical ballet and translate its entire complexity into passionate movement.

It is precisely this development process of a Swan Lake performance that is the starting point for Stefano Giannetti's choreography. A ballet company is rehearsing for the premiere of Swan Lake. The feelings and relationships of the dancers and ballet masters intertwine with the plot of the ballet about the enchanted swan princess, who can only be redeemed by the unconditional love of a prince. And at some point, fiction can no longer be distinguished from reality.
