An evening of great classical music in the Grafenegg Auditorium: the Tonkünstler Orchestra of Lower Austria invites you to a program in which Joseph Haydn's lively cello concerto meets the profound, later symphonies of Johannes Brahms—performed by outstanding musicians in one of Austria's most beautiful concert halls.

On this special evening, the Grafenegg Auditorium will resound with classical music in two masterful works. The concert begins with Joseph Haydn's Concerto for Violoncello and Orchestra in C major: a piece full of elegance, melodic freshness, and orchestral vitality, which was surprisingly rediscovered in the 1960s and has since become one of the jewels of the repertoire. The young cellist Petar Pejčić presents this work with youthful virtuosity and great enthusiasm, breathing new life into the historical sound.

In the second part of the evening, Johannes Brahms' Symphony No. 4 in E minor unfolds its full expressive depth. This late Romantic masterpiece combines dramatic tension with rich motivic interweaving, while at the same time allowing a glimpse of the historical roots of classical forms. Under the baton of Jascha von der Goltz, the Tonkünstler Orchestra of Lower Austria guides the audience through the multi-layered soundscapes of this symphony, whose powerful passacaglia finale is one of the highlights of the Romantic orchestral repertoire.

The concert offers an impressive cross-section of the development of classical music between the Viennese Classical period and late Romanticism—an evening that combines musical precision with emotional intensity, enhanced by the special acoustics and atmosphere of the Grafenegg Auditorium.
