An evening of great musical contrasts at the Brucknerhaus Linz: Joana Mallwitz and Alice Sara Ott, two outstanding artists, meet here for the first time and, together with the Konzerthausorchester Berlin, present a program combining existential depth, tonal brilliance, and symphonic grandeur.

Joana Mallwitz and Alice Sara Ott, two exceptional artists, are making their debut at the Brucknerhaus: The Guardian recently described the pianist with German-Japanese roots as a "superb soloist, brilliant in virtuoso passages of music and in delicate, quieter moments of exquisite sensitivity." Mallwitz, meanwhile, has been one of the outstanding conductors of our time since she was appointed Europe's youngest general music director in Erfurt in 2014 at the age of just 27, setting new standards with her interpretations in the concert hall and orchestra pit.

Together with the Konzerthausorchester Berlin, the artists present a program that oscillates between light and darkness: In Ludwig van Beethoven's brilliant Piano Concerto No. 3, sombre, grim passages alternate with classical melodiousness, while Gustav Mahler's powerful Symphony No. 5 reflects the whole diversity of human existence, from the fateful trumpet signals of the funeral march in the first movement to the uplifting finale.
