The Kunstmuseum Bonn, centrally located on the Museum Mile between the Bundeskunsthalle and the Haus der Geschichte, is one of the most outstanding museums of contemporary art in Germany. It was opened in 1992 and presents itself in a striking building designed by Axel Schultes - an elegant example of modern museum architecture with a generous glass front, diagonal axes and an impressive, amphitheater-like staircase.

The collection comprises around 9,000 works and is characterized in particular by the world's largest collection of works by August Macke as well as important works of Rhenish Expressionism. Another focus is on German art after 1945 - with works by artists such as Georg Baselitz, Gerhard Richter, Sigmar Polke and Joseph Beuys. Photography, graphic art, prints and video art are also an integral part of the collection.

The building deliberately opens itself up to the city: outdoor installations, for example by Katharina Grosse or Mischa Kuball, connect the art with the urban space and emphasize the architecture as a stage and shelter at the same time.

Visitors can expect barrier-free access, a spacious feel and a wide range of educational activities - from guided tours and workshops to educational formats for all age groups. Your visit to the Kunstmuseum Bonn promises architectural class, impressive modern art and lively encounters with the art of our time.
