A glass cube in the middle of the Kleiner Schlossplatz - the Kunstmuseum Stuttgart combines architecture, the city and art to create a lively experience.
Located directly on Königstrasse in Stuttgart, the Kunstmuseum Stuttgart is a striking landmark of contemporary art. The glass building, designed by Berlin architects Hascher Jehle Architektur, looks like a mirror of the city - during the day it reflects urban life, at night its chalk-filled interiors light up. Only part of its approximately 5,000 m² of exhibition space is above ground, the rest is located in the former tunnel vault under the square.
Inside,an extraordinary collectionawaits visitors: one of the world's most important collections of works by Otto Dix is presented here in permanently dedicated rooms. In addition, there are works by Willi Baumeister, Adolf Hölzel, Dieter Roth and many othermodern and contemporaryartists. The exhibitions range from retrospective overviews to avant-garde themes and provide an insight into art, society and design over the decades.
But the museum does not stop at looking back: educational programs for children, young people and adults invite visitors not only to look at art, but also to understand it - experiencing it is just as important here as seeing it. Visitors to the Kunstmuseum Stuttgart embark on a journey through light, space and reflection - a place where architecture and art become one and have a lasting effect.
