The Landestheater Detmold is one of the largest touring and multi-genre theaters in Europe. With a permanent ensemble in the fields of opera, drama, ballet and concert as well as its own children's and youth theater, the theater presents over 600 performances every year - both in Detmold and on tour throughout Germany and beyond.
The historic theater building on Theaterplatz was built in the neoclassical style and still dominates Detmold's cityscape today. At its heart is the magnificent theater hall with over 650 seats, complemented by other venues such as the Detmold Summer Theater, the Studio and the Grabbe House. The children's and youth theater "Kaschlupp!" offers its own formats for young audiences.
