Theater Regensburg is Bavaria's largest municipal multi-genre theater and a cultural beacon in the old town. With five venues - including the classicist main building on Bismarckplatz, the atmospheric Neuhaussaal, the young audience on Haidplatz, the modern Antoniushaus and the experimental outdoor stages - the theater offers around 700 performances per season and reaches around 180,000 visitors a year.
The main venue, the Theater am Bismarckplatz, was built in 1803/1804 and impresses with its classicist tiered theater hall with 520 seats, modern technology such as a revolving stage and lifting platforms as well as historical elegance. Since February 2022, the Antoniushaus has complemented the venues - a newly renovated hall with space for 420 spectators and a cozy beer garden. The Neuhaussaal shines in a classicist style and is an excellent concert and event space for up to 400 people.

Theater Regensburg unites musical theater, drama, dance, young theater, its own philharmonic orchestra and an opera choir under one roof. In addition to the classical repertoire, the program includes surprising rediscoveries and innovative world premieres. Since 2025, it has even been developed into the Regensburg State Theatre - an accolade for its artistic quality and significance in Eastern Bavaria.
Architectural beauty meets artistic diversity - whether in the elegant Bismarckplatz Hall, the intimate Neuhaus Hall or the inviting Antoniushaus. With plays, opera, musicals, dance and concerts of the highest quality, Theater Regensburg shows how much energy and renewal culture holds in the region. A must for anyone who wants to experience theater as a lively part of the city.
