In the center of Kaiserslautern, the Museum Pfalzgalerie combines masterful art from the 19th century to the present day with classic architecture and a warm culture of mediation - a meeting place for painting, graphics, sculpture and enthusiasm.

In the heart of Kaiserslautern's city center stands the Museum Pfalzgalerie - a historic art gallery in neo-Gothic style built between 1875 and 1880. Originally founded as the Palatinate Trade Museum, the museum quickly developed into one of the region's leading art institutions. Thanks to generous collections such as the donation by Court Councillor Joseph Benzino (1903), the spectrum of arts and crafts, painting and graphic art expanded into the 19th century.

Today, the Pfalzgalerie presents outstanding works of painting, sculpture and applied art - from the 19th century to the present day. Its collection includes important examples of Impressionism, Expressionism and New Objectivity with works by Max Liebermann, Max Beckmann, Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Otto Dix and other greats. In a separate cabinet, the museum is dedicated to graphic art with around 20,000 sheets by outstanding artists, from Goya and Rembrandt to Picasso, Georg Baselitz, Kiki Smith and many more. The sculpture collection - expanded since the 1960s - complements the spectrum with sculptural positions from the 20th and 21st centuries.

Interactive educational programs, events accompanying exhibitions, guided tours and formats for families make the museum a lively place of learning. The elegant setting, in which historical architecture and modern presentation merge, also gives the mpk a prestigious character for receptions and conferences.
