From November 2025, Theater Regensburg will be bringing "Nora. A Thriller", a thrilling reinterpretation of a theater classic on the Regensburg stage for the first time.

Nora and Torvald Helmer have been married for eight years and seem to be living the perfect marriage and family life: cute pet names, three children and promising career prospects for Torvald. He is due to be promoted to bank director in the new year. But first the Christmas holidays are approaching and with them old acquaintances suddenly appear on the doorstep, causing the happy façade to crumble. In the first years of their marriage, Nora forged a signature on a promissory bill to support her then sick husband financially. Now she is being blackmailed. Lawyer Krogstad and Nora's childhood friend Kristine Linde are involved in the intrigue. Both want to gain professional advantages now that Torvald will have more influence. Nora knows that her entire livelihood is at stake. When Torvald finds out about the guilt, however, he doesn't just react with insults. In order to maintain his reputation, the facade of an intact marriage is to be preserved. But Nora does not agree with this ...

In 1879, Ibsen's NORA, which breaks with conventions and patriarchal structures, was a provocation. Almost 150 years later, the authors Sivan Ben Yishai, Gerhild Steinbuch and Ivna Žic add contemporary perspectives to the bourgeois theatrical thriller. The result is a powerful field of tension between modern and past voices, which also deals with Nora's privileged situation and the children's perspectives.
