Theater Vorpommern is a fascinating multi-genre theater that plays an outstanding regional and artistic role in the cultural landscape of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. With three permanent venues in Stralsund, Greifswald and Putbus, it stages opera, musical theater, ballet, drama, concerts and children's and youth theater all year round.
In Stralsund, the house, which opened in 1916, impresses with its historic auditorium, "swallow's nests" in the first tier and lovingly restored art nouveau architecture that perfectly combines intimate atmosphere and aesthetics. Greifswald is home to the Grosses Haus, a neoclassical building from 1915 with around 435 seats, which houses opera, drama, ballet and symphony concerts - supplemented by capacity in the Stadthalle during ongoing renovation work. Finally, Putbus impresses as a classicist summer theater (1819-1821) with a historical aura, which is now used as an iconic venue for events such as the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival.
In addition to the opera choir and philharmonic orchestra, the ensemble also includes the Vorpommern Ballet, a dedicated team of actors and a young theater, which lives participation and mediation in a playful way. Over 30 premieres are presented each year, including interactive formats such as "After-Work-Lounge", workshops and open-air plays - diversity that inspires audiences and makes theater a new experience.
The Theater Vorpommern is more than just a stage - it is a regional cultural center full of architectural diversity, artistic acuity and social relevance. Whether in the baroque ambience of Stralsund, the neoclassical building in Greifswald or the classicist summer theater in Putbus: here you can experience performing arts in all its facets - from classical to experimental, from e-opera to youth theater.
