In the heart of Koblenz, the Middle Rhine Museum in the Forum Confluentes brings together living art and cultural history - from regional romanticism to the present day.

In the middle of the architecturally impressive Forum Confluentes cultural center lies the Middle Rhine Museum - one of the oldest municipal institutions in Germany, founded in 1835 on the painting collection of the priest Joseph Gregor Lang. Since moving into the modern Forum Confluentes in 2013, the museum has presented a lively overview of more than 2,000 years of cultural history of the Middle Rhine Valley in a spacious area.

The permanent exhibitions are arranged chronologically and range from medieval sculpture and Romantic paintings to classical modernism and contemporary art. Around 1,200 paintings, 8,000 prints and drawings, over 300 sculptures as well as numerous decorative arts, archaeological and ethnographic objects and photographs form the focal points of the collection.

As a cultural platform in the center of the city, the museum is closely linked to the city library and the tourist information office in the Forum Confluentes. This creates a place for exchange, encounters and knowledge transfer on several levels. Another special feature is the wide range of educational activities on offer at the museum, including audio guides, workshops, lectures and guided tours for young and old.
