A floating theater in the middle of the Hanseatic city - the Theaterschiff Lübeck combines a maritime atmosphere with cabaret, comedy and music and has long since become a permanent cultural anchorage on the Trave.
Located directly on the Untertrave, just a few steps away from Lübeck's old town, the Theaterschiff Lübeck is a former cargo ship that has been transformed into a charming cultural venue on the water. Since its opening in 2002, it has been delighting visitors with its unusual blend of theater, gastronomy and northern German flair.
The former cargo hold is now an atmospheric theater hall with around 150 seats. It is not just a place for plays, but also for laughter, singing and celebrations: The program ranges from comedies and musical evenings to cabaret, guest performances and in-house productions. Whether classics, contemporary plays or humorous revues - the repertoire reflects the whole variety of cabaret.
In addition to the theater experience, the ship also offers gastronomic comfort: food and drinks are served in the on-board restaurant, making a visit to the theater an all-round enjoyable evening. The atmosphere on the open-air deck is particularly appealing, where visitors can enjoy the view over the Trave and the Old Town skyline before or after the performance.
The Theaterschiff Lübeck is more than just a venue - it is a piece of vibrant city culture that uniquely combines art, water and the North German way of life. Those who go on board here experience theater as you won't find it anywhere else: up close, humorous and with genuine maritime charm.
