An evening between operatic fire and tango blood: bass-baritone Erwin Schrott lights up the Glocke with "Tango Diablo" - a program that combines dramatic arias and Latin American passion with a gripping stage presence.
With his captivating stage presence and the seductive timbre of his dark, velvety-sonorous bass-baritone, Erwin Schrott has been one of the most exciting and charismatic opera singers on the international stage for over two decades now. In particular, the abysmal and demonic "villains" of the repertoire such as Don Giovanni, Scarpia or the four villains in "The Tales of Hoffmann" become an event with him. In "Tango Diablo", he draws an arc from Mephisto arias by Gounod to Boito to Latin American tango music. For him, tango music means home; as the son of Spanish-Uruguayan parents with German roots, it has had a decisive influence on him as a person and musician - a devilishly good program!
