860 kilometers through Germany, Austria and Switzerland, four routes and over 50 baroque experience stations! The Upper Swabian Baroque Route was established in 1966 as one of the oldest cultural and vacation routes. From Wiblingen to Lake Constance and from Sigmaringen to Kempten, the most impressive baroque buildings in the region can be visited.

This makes it one of Germany's oldest themed routes. A journey along the Upper Swabian Baroque Route opens up an ever-changing view of the special features of the Baroque lifestyle. Monasteries, abbeys and churches, magnificent castles and aristocratic residences are just as much a part of it as the distinctive Baroque landscape.
Not only the monumental buildings are part of the overall experience. Lively customs, the sound of baroque organs, the delicacies of baroque dining and the art of monastic beer brewing as well as a very special Upper Swabian way of life also characterize the image of the baroque era. Let yourself be inspired here and plan your trip to the bygone era of the Baroque!

Here are a few of the highlights that await you along the Baroque Route.

Ochsenhausen Monastery
The well-preserved St. Georg Monastery in Ochsenhausen is one of the largest Baroque complexes in Upper Swabia. Visitors to the Upper Swabian Baroque Route can expect a Baroque experience of rare completeness in Ochsenhausen.

Langenargen
Langenargen is "paradisiacally beautiful" for families who spend their vacation in the "family holiday village": Here, family-friendly vacation apartments have been grouped around a central square in several small houses. Everything has been thought of: a bowling alley, a sports and fitness room, a large table tennis hall, a children's playground, a barbecue area - and much, much more. Langenargen was awarded a prize for this in the state competition "family vacations in Baden-Württemberg"!
