The Stade museum ensemble offers four outstanding museums at the old Hanseatic port, which together open a window to the history, art and culture of the Hanseatic city. The centerpiece is the Museum Schwedenspeicher, a historic brick building from the 17th century, once a Swedish warehouse. On around 1,650 m², interactive models and exhibitions guide visitors through the history of the city, the Hanseatic period and the archaeology of the region - from medieval harbor finds to bog bodies and Neolithic artefacts.

The Kunsthaus Stade is located just a few steps away in a half-timbered house dating back to 1667. The changing exhibitions mostly present modern or contemporary art - from regional artists to internationally renowned names. The atmospheric location on the harbor and the historical ambience make every visit special.

The Stade open-air museum on an island in the Hanseatic port offers a unique experience. One of the oldest in Germany, it displays original historical buildings such as the old country house with thatched roof, a trestle windmill and lovingly reconstructed interiors - embedded in a natural environment. The museum network also includes the local history museum as a folkloristic addition and conveys everyday life, cuisine and crafts of the 19th century. Additional venues such as the Himmelpforten School Museum and the Horneburg Crafts Museum expand the network.

In Stade, architecture, art and regional identity come together in a unique way: From the imposing Schwedenspeicher to the creative Kunsthaus and the authentic Museum Island to the mobile museum ship - all stations combine knowledge, experience and local color. Ideal for families, art lovers and the curious - a real treasure trove of North German museum culture.
