An autumn full of sound, history and cultural enjoyment: the Haydn House Eisenstadt invites you to a series of special events in the fall, where music, history and culinary delights come together. Visitors can expect a varied program that allows them to immerse themselves in the creative cosmos of Joseph Haydn - vividly conveyed and experienced in many different ways.

Get to know Joseph Haydn privately in his own four walls: as a house owner, husband, lover and of course as an outstanding and great composer and musician. Find out more about his relationships with other important personalities of his time and how he influenced the musical life of his era. Discover how he lived in the carefully reconstructed rooms of the 18th century.
The permanent exhibition "Haydn@home - private, interesting and amusing facts" is the main focus and is now open all year round! In lovingly reconstructed 18th century living rooms, visitors can find out how Joseph Haydn lived, worked and composed. Multimedia stations bring his musical oeuvre to life, from world-famous works to lesser-known operas, which can be rediscovered in interactive presentations. Special exhibits include Haydn's original organ console and the precious baryton, once a favorite instrument of the Esterházy royal family.

A musical highlight on September 26, 2025 is the Wandelkonzert, which will bring the entire Haydn House to life on this special evening. Guests will experience music first-hand at several stations - accompanied by small culinary delicacies based on historical recipes. On October 31, 2025, the salon concert presents the motto "The Haydn House resounds" with musicians from the Joseph Haydn Private Academy playing works by Haydn and his students in a chamber music setting - an impressive, intimate musical experience.

The baroque Haydn herb garden also shows its best side in the fall. When Joseph Haydn moved to Eisenstadt with his wife, he acquired the "Kuchlgärtl beym oder hinter dem Spittal" along with his home. Today, a treasure trove of ancient wisdom and baroque recipes awaits rediscovery in this herb garden. In fine weather, the treasures of this baroque kitchen garden can be viewed free of charge. Until mid-September, visitors can explore historical medicinal and culinary herbs and put together an autumn bouquet of herbs.

Discover the extraordinary exhibition "Haydn@Home" and the diverse supporting program during the "Long Night of Museums" on 4 October 2025 in the former home of the exceptional musician. A varied program with concerts on the historic fortepiano, a puzzle game, creative table and brief insights into Mrs. Haydn's kitchen secrets awaits visitors.

Elke Ferderbar from the Burgenland Provincial Museum will be giving a lecture entitled "Von Perchten, Hexen und Vampiren" on October 16, 2025: The Burgenland annual cycle is full of mystical figures and eerie creatures such as Krampus, Lucia, Frau Percht, witches and vampires. A spooky and informative evening tells exciting stories about these creatures and their customs.

Of course, there is still a varied program for families and schools: children and young people can experience the everyday life of the Haydn family in specially developed guided tours and workshops. With games, music and creative activities, history becomes an experience - and the composer becomes a tangible figure.

The Haydn House offers an educational program tailored to age groups for children, young people, families and institutions such as kindergartens or schools. Each program is individually tailored and can only be booked by prior appointment.
