From March 28, for the first time in eleven years, the Marienschlucht gorge invites visitors to discover one of the most impressive natural experiences on Lake Constance. The new, safe panoramic walkway leads through the gorge and offers breathtaking views of the rocky landscape, the stream, and Lake Constance. Thanks to its good connections to the regional hiking trail network and scheduled boat services, Marienschlucht is an attractive, intermunicipal destination for nature lovers, hikers, and families.

A special natural paradise between rock and water: the new panoramic walkway forms the heart of the nature experience. Over 280 steps, five viewing platforms, and a height difference of around 56 meters make the path through the Marienschlucht gorge varied and exciting every step of the way. Along the paths to the panoramic footbridge, a newly designed information trail invites visitors to get to know the Marienschlucht gorge from different angles. At several information points, visitors can learn interesting facts about animals and plants, geology and history, as well as the importance of water in this special landscape. For families, there is also a separate children's trail: the peregrine falcon "Falko" playfully accompanies young explorers through the nature paradise and provides a variety of educational moments.

Tip 1: It's worth stopping by on opening day: During "Open Gorge Day," visitors can expect a varied program with food stations, information points, and guided tours.

Nature experience meets city paradise Constance
A visit to Marienschlucht gorge can be ideally combined with a stay in Konstanz. The largest city on Lake Constance complements the nature experience with urban flair: restaurants and cafés right on the shore, a wide range of shopping opportunities, and the picturesque old town make Konstanz the perfect city paradise before or after your trip into nature. Numerous hotels and accommodations—as well as the nature-oriented campsites Litzelstetten-Mainau and Klausenhorn—offer the best conditions for a relaxing day trip or short vacation.

Tip 2: From Konstanz, the Marienschlucht can be reached by public transport, hiking trails, or selected boat connections; however, there is no direct boat connection. The pier is served exclusively by the Deinis shipping company with the boat "Großherzog Ludwig" belonging to the municipality of Bodman-Ludwigshafen (travel times can be found at: https://schifffahrt-bodensee.de/schifffahrten-ueberlinger-see). Hikes are possible, for example, from Wallhausen (Eulenbach hiking car park or at the lido), from Bodman (Kapelle car park) or from Langenrain (Marienschlucht car park). Direct access to the Marienschlucht by bicycle is not permitted.

Tip 3: The Marienschlucht gorge isn't the only place offering spectacular panoramic views. In Constance, the Ferris wheel at the harbor already offers impressive vistas – and from spring 2026, these will be complemented by the Asisi Panorama, a 360-degree art experience with views over the four-country region of Lake Constance (Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Liechtenstein).
