In 2025, the Waldviertel Art Museum is focusing on people. "Imagine - Images of Man" is the title of a diverse exhibition that presents works by 32 teaching artists from the renowned University of Art and Design in Cluj-Napoca on the upper floor.
The artists - leading representatives of figurative art - deal with people in their true-to-life complexity, without stylized pathos and restrictive ideology. The exhibition reflects life full of everyday triviality, apparent coincidences, overlooked significance, routine and the surprising, adversity and beauty, seriousness and humor, banality and poetry. Among European art universities, it is the University of Art and Design in Cluj-Napoca that focuses its teaching on the representation of the human being. This has earned it a high reputation and paved the way for many of its students to become world-class artists.
The show is enriched with selected works by the two museum founders Heide and Makis Warlamis. On the first floor, an excerpt from their decades of work on the theme of man, from prehistory to the present day, will be presented.
