She plays the electric guitar with the children on the broom and slaps a cake on her face to avoid being exposed. Who are we talking about here? Mrs. Doubtfire, of course!
More than thirty years ago, this enchanting Hollywood comedy conquered cinema screens around the world - mainly because of Robin Williams, who, as the "prickly nanny" Euphegenia Doubtfire, plays his way into the hearts of the audience in no time at all and sends a timeless message to the world at the end of the film: Families can come in all shapes and sizes, "as long as there is love, you will always have a family in your heart!" The touching film is still loved by young and old alike today: over 5.5 million people saw the film in Germany alone in 1993. Since then, it has been shown regularly and successfully on TV. But it is not only on the big screen that the touching story of the unemployed actor Daniel, who has remained a child and does everything he can to be near his beloved children despite all the adversity, manages to sweep people off their feet. The musical adaptation of the film has also been euphorically received live on the world's major theater stages: In December 2021, the heart-warming play celebrated its acclaimed premiere on New York's Broadway, followed by the next one on London's famous West End in May 2023. There, too, Mrs. Doubtfire completely thrilled audiences for two years.

And now it's finally coming to us: on November 6, 2025, the new musical hit will celebrate its German premiere as a German production - exclusively at the Capitol Theater Düsseldorf! Audiences can look forward to a modern and elaborate adaptation of the film material. In addition to many detailed reminiscences of the hit movie, the plot is set in the here and now. The catchy music mix borrows from disco, pop, soul, rock and rap - including soulful ballads. With its lovingly designed, dynamic stage set, great, heart-warming emotions, hilarious humor and fast-paced dance scenes, Mrs. Doubtfire promises a new, rousing musical experience for the whole family.
It tells the moving story of the actor and voice impersonator Daniel Hillard, which has lost none of its relevance and significance today. When he loses custody of his three children after the breakdown of his 14-year marriage, he is left with his life in tatters. He is prepared to risk everything to be close to them. When his ex is looking for a nanny, Daniel applies without further ado - disguised as the enterprising elderly lady Mrs. Doubtfire. From then on, he takes care of his own offspring. And he does it so hilariously that he wraps entire families around his finger. While his "alter ego" develops a turbulent life of its own, Daniel learns - often faster than he would like - what it means to be a good father.
