The Titanic represents the lifestyle of an era full of adventure and freedom. Luxury, art, literature and music characterize this time. As the largest ship of its time, it promised a safe and luxurious journey until an iceberg changed everything in April 1912. The sinking became a media spectacle, accompanied by eyewitness reports and myths. The discovery of the wreck 40 years ago reveals some secrets. But what has the world learned from this tragedy?

Now is the ideal time for an exhibition about the Titanic. September 1, 2025 marks the 40th anniversary of the rediscovery of her wreck - an occasion for us to retell the fascinating story of this legendary ship. She lay hidden in the icy depths of the North Atlantic for 73 years before she was "brought to light" again.
The Titanic stands for more than just a tragic voyage. She embodies the unshakeable belief in progress, but also the fragility of human plans. Her story is a timeless symbol of innovation, ambition and the tragedy of failure. It is a mirror of its time: the social hierarchies, innovations in technology and transportation, art and fashion of the early 1910s. The exhibition also sheds light on critical perspectives, such as the global inequality of the time, for example the role of African colonies in the economic world. Through the stories of its passengers and crew, the drama becomes tangible - from the millionaire to the emigrant family to the stoker. With original exhibits, state-of-the-art technology and interactive formats, the Titanic becomes a window into a complex, fascinating and often contradictory time.
The Lokschuppen exhibition combines edutainment with a unique blend of immersion and original objects. It is tailor-made for the Lokschuppen and impresses with a high-quality design that does not limit the content "only" to the history of the ship, but also places the Titanic precisely in the context of the time - from social developments and technical innovations to art and fashion. The exhibition appeals to all the senses and creates a lasting experience that brings knowledge to life.
