A long night of nostalgia, dancing, and great songs: with "Strangers in the Night," the Leipzig Opera's Musical Comedy brings an atmospheric dance show to the stage that transforms the spirit of the legendary Sinatra era into movement and music.
"Strangers in the Night" is a dance production by choreographer Mirko Mahr dedicated to the famous songs of Frank Sinatra. The setting is a bar in the middle of the night: the party seems to be long over—but now a special time between sunset and dawn begins, in which a surreal, nostalgic atmosphere unfolds.
Accompanied by Sinatra's unforgettable songs, guests experience a wide range of moments throughout the evening: lively performances, romantic memories, exuberant celebrations, but also conflicts and emotional encounters. Dance, music, and scene combine to create a vivid snapshot of human relationships.
The production also draws on aspects of Frank Sinatra's life. The legendary entertainer was known for turning night into day—fearing the darkness, he often stayed awake and spent his time with friends, music, and long parties. This idea forms the atmospheric starting point for the production.
The evening is framed by Sinatra's famous song "My Way," which serves as a musical guide through the night. Between dance, show, and musical homage, the result is a stage performance that celebrates the timeless charm of Sinatra's songs and brings their unbroken radiance to life.
Premiere June 13,
Further performances: June 14, 16, 19, and 30, July 1, 2026
