A magical world opens up at the Toy Worlds Museum Basel when bells ring and angels' wings are heard: "Christmas angels - with flapping wings and ringing bells" brings the heavenly side of Christmas to the toy stage.
In the exhibition, the Toy Worlds Museum Basel is transformed into a dazzling scenario between childhood memories, mythological symbolism and playful fantasy. Winged heavenly messengers have always accompanied the Christmas story - they announce miracles, point the way, hover over landscapes and ignite our imagination. Under the motto of this exhibition, we now encounter them in the world of miniatures and toys: as delicate figures, luminous motifs, chimes and festive scenes that reflect the living room at home as well as the great religious stage.

Enchanting doll or angel figurines set the tone between the play table and the scenography: angels with delicate wings, sound objects with ringing bells, nostalgic Christmas decorations; all of this invites you to not only experience the festivities on the outside - with snow, lights and presents - but also to wander through them again on the inside. The selected objects interweave cultural history and childhood memories, craftsmanship and the aesthetics of play. The exhibition also focuses on the auditory and haptic dimensions: The gentle rustling of wings, the soft tinkling of bells, the touch of wooden, fabric or metal parts open up moments of contemplation.
Accompanying the exhibition, a program of workshops, family activities and interactive stations spans the spectrum between amazement and participation: Handlettering Christmas cards, an angel photo box with wings and much more invite you to join in the experience. The exhibition is not only a glimpse into past play worlds, but also an invitation to become part of the experience yourself.
