With Mozart's Requiem, the Staatstheater Augsburg brings an impressive world premiere to the stage: an interdisciplinary dance theater by US-American choreographer Peter Chu, which combines music and movement into a touching synthesis of the arts.
Mozart's requiem mass, his powerful last work, during the composition of which the "genius from another planet" (Nikolaus Harnoncourt) died far too early, will be staged jointly by the ballet and opera ensembles as an interdisciplinary production. It is choreographed and directed by the American Peter Chu, whose innovative, contemporary movement vocabulary has already enjoyed great success at the Staatstheater Augsburg with "yourFACE" and the full-length choreography "Moving".
World premiere January 31, 2026
Further performances: February 3, 12, 15, 20, 22 and 26, March 13 and 21, 2026
