The 2nd Philharmonic Concert at the Staatstheater Cottbus traces extraordinary musical heroic stories - full of charm, passion and inner greatness. Between Viennese classical music, romantic longing and Mediterranean colorfulness, an evening unfolds that makes courage and humanity audible in many facets of sound.

Very different heroic stories are hidden in this concert: sometimes cheerful, sometimes melancholy, sometimes with a twinkle in the eye. Marianna von Martines opens with a symphony that radiates light and elegance - proof that women in the Viennese classical period were also imaginative. Mendelssohn's violin concerto tells the story of a hero of a very different kind: tender, passionate and full of longing, the instrument makes its way.

Then it's off to the south - Elgar's concert overture "In the South" captures the vastness of Italy, with wild nature and ancient grandeur. Finally, Dvořák: a heroic song that tells an entire life story (his own?) without words - with pride, struggles and the faint echo of transience. A concert for all those who know: Every hero has his own melody.
