On the occasion of its 100th anniversary, the Tiroler Volkstheater was elevated to the status of Kufstein Municipal Theatre by the Mayor of Kufstein on November 15, 2008. The theater association has existed, with brief interruptions, for almost exactly a century. With almost 150 members and up to 7 productions a year, the Stadttheater Kufstein is now one of the largest amateur theaters in the country.

Brave Gerda embarks on an adventurous journey to rescue her friend Kay, who has been kidnapped by the mysterious Snow Queen. She lives in a glittering palace made of ice and loves games, but her rules are just as unpredictable as she is.

On her way through magical landscapes, Gerda meets the kind-hearted forest fairy Liora, who supports her with knowledge and protection, and is accompanied by the cheeky squirrel Nuss. In a magnificent palace, a distracted king and a wise queen help her to prepare for the cold expanses. Finally, she meets a gang of young bandits whose charismatic captain is proud of his golden pants.
In the icy palace of the Snow Queen, Gerda sees Kay, caught in the spell of a seemingly endless game. Find out whether her strength and love are enough to free him when the Stadttheater Kufstein once again presents "Once upon a time, a long, long time ago, when miracles were still a reality..."
