Located in the heart of Innsbruck, the Tiroler Landestheater is one of the central cultural institutions of the state of Tyrol. For over 300 years, the theater has shaped the cultural life of the region and is now considered an important multi-genre theater in the German-speaking world. With a wide-ranging program of drama, opera, operetta, musicals and dance, the theatre offers artistic diversity at the highest level.

The roots of the theater date back to 1654, when Archduchess Claudia de' Medici commissioned the first theater buildings in Innsbruck. The current building was erected in the 19th century and modernized several times, most recently with a spacious extension that was opened in 2003. This combination of historical substance and contemporary architecture makes the Landestheater a special place between tradition and innovation.

As a state institution, the Tiroler Landestheater not only fulfills an artistic mission, but also a social one. It sees itself as an open house for all generations and population groups - a place for encounters, reflection and inspiration. In addition to the artistic work on stage, it also continuously focuses on theater education and the promotion of young talent.

The theater ensemble is made up of internationally renowned and up-and-coming artists who work closely with directing teams and the Tiroler Symphonieorchester Innsbruck (TSOI) to create productions of the highest quality. Three venues - the Grosses Haus, the Kleines Haus (Kammerspiele) and the Studio - enable different forms of theatrical creation, from the classical repertoire to contemporary world premieres.
With its claim not only to show art, but to negotiate it in a lively way, the Tiroler Landestheater makes a significant contribution to Tyrol's cultural identity - and sees itself as a bridge between local audiences, international exchange and social relevance.
