Director Geertje Boeden is staging for the first time for the Volkstheater Rostock - she has proven her skills at numerous theaters, for example at the Staatstheater Darmstadt, the Staatsoperette Dresden or the house in Braunschweig. Another highlight awaits the Volkstheater summer 2024!
Balduin Count Zedlau is a bit stuffy, but that's not fair: his newlywed wife Gabriele thinks he lacks Viennese blood and the joie de vivre that goes with it, and she moves to her parents' castle without further ado. Left alone like this, he begins an affair with the beautiful Franziska - and on top of that, he gets involved with Pepi, the girlfriend of his own servant. This, in turn, does not suit his wife Gabriele...
What luck that there are Heurigen, or to be more precise, Heurigen restaurants in Hietzing near Vienna. Here you can play comedy of errors to your heart's content, forgive each other, sing the praises of Viennese blood - and in the end enjoy a happy ending with lots of happy couples. The fact that the famous Johann Strauss Junior did not write the operetta as such, but had it compiled from some of his most famous works, has not prevented it from becoming a worldwide success.
