The Monte-Carlo International Circus Festival is the most famous circus festival in the world and takes place annually in the Principality of Monaco. It was founded in 1974 by Prince Rainier III of Monaco and is under the patronage of the Monegasque royal family. Princess Stéphanie has been President of the festival, which is regarded as the world championship of artistry, since 2006.

The coveted award of this festival, the "Golden Clown", has the same significance for the circus world as the "Oscar" for film.
Organized and directed with great passion by Stephanie of Monaco, the festival is televised all over the world and presents a selection of the best international acts each year, attracting large audiences. For 10 days, a selection of breathtaking shows fills the Fontvieille circus tent with life. Acrobats, trainers, trapeze artists, clowns... Incredible circus performers who have made the festival's reputation and continue to make young and old dream year after year.
