In 2020, the former submarine base in Bordeaux was transformed into a gigantic center for digital art. The "Bassins de Lumières" host immersive exhibitions that allow visitors to immerse themselves in the works of art, just like in the Carrières de Lumières in Provence and the Atelier des Lumières in Paris.

In the Bassins à Flots district of Bordeaux, the submarine base is a particularly unusual place. The almost 20-metre-high bunker, a gigantic 42,000 square meter building on the banks of the Garonne, was built by German occupying forces during the Second World War to house submarines.
The bunker, which is divided into eleven cells by thick concrete walls, which in turn are connected to each other by an internal road, already hosts regularly changing exhibitions, concerts and shows in a very "underground" atmosphere. Using the Amiex method (Art & Music Immersive Experience), the Bassins de Lumières offer visitors the opportunity to become part of the artworks themselves through a light show accompanied by music and to move freely within them.
Following this principle, the paintings and sculptures of the greatest masters in the history of art become one with the architecture of the underwater base in Bordeaux - through the magic of hundreds of video projectors and thousands of digital images.
Throughout the year, the Bassins de Lumières present several programs simultaneously: a digital exhibition dedicated to the great masters of art history, but also digital works by contemporary artists are on the program.
In 2023, two sacred monsters of art history will move into the former submarine base in Bordeaux with monumental projections of the greatest works by Dalí and Gaudí. The first is the universal exhibition "Dalí, l'énigme sans fin", accompanied by the music of Pink Floyd for an even more grandiose effect. It unveils the master of surrealism's most beautiful paintings such as "La Persistance de la Mémoire au Visage de Mae West", "Léda Atomique" or "La Tentation de saint Antoine".The second installation allows visitors to rediscover the iconoclastic buildings of the architect Gaudí, such as Parc Güell or the Sagrada Família, which served as sources of inspiration for Salvador Dalí.
