The Domaine de Cheverny has belonged to the same family, the Huraults, financiers and officers in the service of several kings of France, for more than six centuries. The château is one of the largest in the Loire Valley and is still inhabited today by the descendants of the Hurault family, the Marquis and Marquess of Vibraye.
The château, which has never been uninhabited, offers visitors remarkably well-preserved furniture and interiors. The apartments on the second floor bear witness to the French art of living: the room of births, the red boudoir, the children's room, the spouses' room, the dining room, the small salon...
But Cheverny also has many other treasures - such as the tapestry from the 17th century tapestry manufactory, which is exhibited in the armory, the chest of drawers from the time of Louis XIV in the "Boulle" style or the "Regulator" in the tapestry salon, a precision clock, according to whose time all other clocks in the castle were set and which dates from the Louis XV era. The four-poster bed decorated with Persian embroidery from the 16th century, which King Henri IV used when he stayed at the château, is also one of these treasures.
Cheverny was one of the first châteaux to be opened to visitors in 1922. Here you can relive the splendor of château life. The owners invite you to discover this authentic and living heritage: the botanical park, the magnificent interior of the château, the dog kennel, the various gardens, especially the tulip garden and the forest.
Let yourself be enchanted by the beauty of the park and canal during a ride in an electric carriage or boat. The café in the orangery is also open from April to November.

Discover the domain's enchanting themed gardens. Opposite the trophy room is the vegetable garden, designed by the Marquise de Vibraye. Using a variety of materials, it offers a colorful mix of flowers, vegetables and colored stones. Each season has its own colors, fruits and scents.

The garden of the apprentices
This contemporary ornamental garden was once a French-style garden and is located between the castle and the orangery, offering a magnificent view of the park. After this romantic stopover, the Orangery's café awaits you for a culinary break.

The garden of lovers
Six impressive bronze sculptures adorn the castle park. They are works by the Swedish artist Gudmar Olovson. The Garden of Lovers is a tribute to life, love and family.
Gudmar Olovson (1936-2017) lived and worked in Paris from 1959 until his death and was one of the great freelance sculptors of his generation. The central themes of his works are love, lovers, the poetry of forms and beauty.
One of his most famous works, "The Two Trees", can also be admired in the Bois de Boulogne in Paris, in the gardens of Château Petrus and in the Falsterbo open-air museum in Sweden.

The maze
Appreciated by young and old, created in 2009 from Caucasian laurel, it is a pleasure to visit with family or friends.

The tulip garden
The tulip has been queen of the three gardens of the Château de Cheverny every spring for nine years, where more than 500,000 bulbs are planted to form a huge ribbon of tulips. You will be amazed!
Imagine this spectacular ribbon: 500,000 tulips over a length of 250 meters and a width of 12 meters! A variation in red, pink, yellow, orange, mauve and white. A true work of art of nature that ends for the first time in the water feature of the castle park. This magnificent show can be discovered in March / April!
