The Handel House in Halle is not just a museum of musical heritage - it is a living place of remembrance that makes the sound of George Frideric Handel audible in the city of his birth.

In the middle of the old town of Halle (Saale) stands the Handel House, a magnificent town house from the late 16th century. George Frideric Handel was born in this building in 1685 - one of the most important composers of the Baroque period and later a citizen of the world between Halle, London and Rome. Today, the house is home to a multifaceted museum that brings the life and work of the composer to life in all its facets.

The permanent exhibition takes visitors through 14 rooms in which historical documents, letters, portraits, stage sets and manuscripts of music are woven together to create a vivid portrait of the artist. The presentation is complemented by one of the most important collections of musical instruments in Europe: over 750 historical instruments - from the harpsichord to the viola da gamba - illustrate what music sounded like in Handel's time. Sound stations, audiovisual installations and interactive media allow visitors to immerse themselves in the world of the Baroque.

However, the Handel House is much more than a museum: it is a research center, event venue and musical meeting place. Concerts, readings and special exhibitions take place regularly, bringing Handel's work into dialog with current topics and contemporary music. The Handel Festival Halle, which takes place annually in June and transforms the entire city into a sounding stage, is particularly famous. International artists perform Handel's operas, oratorios and instrumental works at historical venues - from the opera house to the Marktkirche and the cathedral.

The Handel House thus combines past and present, science and emotion, local roots and international appeal. A visit here means getting very close to the spirit of Handel - in the house where his music originated and lives on to this day.
