A whole life in lines and light: at the Lyonel Feininger Museum, the work of a key modern artist is brought to life.
The Lyonel Feininger Museum in Quedlinburg is unique in the world - it is the only museum dedicated to the life and work of this important graphic artist, painter and Bauhaus artist. With an outstanding collection of graphic works, watercolors, photographs and paintings, it preserves and displays one of the most extensive historical archives on Feininger in Germany.
The collection is largely based on a loan from Dr. Hermann Klumpp, who rescued Feininger's works in difficult times and ensured their preservation. In the exhibitions, the various creative phases of the artist's work can be traced: from his early prints through the Bauhaus period to his later works and photographic experiments.
The museum sees itself not only as an archive, but also as a lively place of encounter. Special exhibitions bring works by other classical modern artists into conversation with Feininger's work - for example by Kandinsky, Klee or Nolde. Educational offers and interactive stations invite visitors to delve deeper into the world of this extraordinary artist.
The museum ensemble, complemented by modern extensions such as the art education studio, blends harmoniously into the historic town structure and offers space for reflection in the midst of Quedlinburg's medieval ambience. A visit here is a journey through lines, light and time - through the work of an artist who combined past eras and modern pictorial forms.
