A place where sound, stage and city come together - Konzert und Theater St. Gallen opens up spaces for experience, amazement and participation in the heart of Eastern Switzerland.
One of the region's most important cultural institutions rises up in the middle of St. Gallen: Konzert und Theater St. Gallen. The house unites music theater, drama, dance and concert in a distinctive three-sector operation - a rarity between Zurich, Stuttgart and Innsbruck. Each season brings new productions, in-house productions and guest performances and invites you to experience art forms in a lively way.
Architecture and function are closely interwoven here: The striking theater building from 1968 with its hexagonal floor plan is considered an icon of post-war modernism; it is located in the city's museum district, close to the old town and the Tonhalle. The ensemble is complemented by the Tonhalle St. Gallen - an art nouveau building from 1909 with outstanding acoustics - and the smaller Lokremise studio stage, which offers space for independent theater. This variety of venues creates atmosphere, encounters and change at the same time.

The program reflects this claim: operas and musicals are performed in the main auditorium, classics are combined with current themes in the drama area, and renowned orchestras and ensembles perform in the concert area. But the theater is not just a stage for performances - it is also a place for education and participation: Workshops, school performances, participation and a connection to the city are all part of the program here.
Visitors do not simply enter an event building: they enter a space in which history, architecture and the cultural present come together. You can feel the experience from the very first step - foyer light, backstage noises, the quiet crackling before the opening. The result is a meeting place for art and theater lovers, a lively cultural space in the region and a house that is both a stage and a listening room with its diversity.
With its masterful combination of tradition and experiment, locality and internationality, Konzert und Theater St. Gallen stands for a culture that makes visible how art creates spaces - and how a space becomes art.
