The Museum of Cultural History Magdeburg opens the doors to an eventful city history - a place where artifacts come to life and the past touches the present.

The Museum of Cultural History Magdeburg is located not far from the cathedral in Otto-von-Guericke-Straße and is one of the most important cultural history museums in central Germany. With over 380,000 objects, it documents the multifaceted history of the city and its region - from early times to the present day.

The museum was founded in 1906 as the Kaiser-Friedrich-Museum and combines elements of Renaissance and Gothic architecture in its building. Today, it houses impressive permanent exhibitions such as "Magdeburg - The History of a City", "Art Seduction - The Historical Art Collections" as well as themed rooms on school history, crafts and everyday culture.

One of the highlights is the famous Magdeburg Horseman - the oldest free-standing equestrian sculpture north of the Alps. It is displayed in the magnificent Kaiser-Otto-Saal and symbolizes the city's medieval heyday. The collection is complemented by precious coins, medals, sacred works of art and handicraft objects that provide an insight into life in past centuries.

In addition to the permanent exhibitions, the museum regularly hosts special exhibitions that shed new light on urban, cultural-historical and artistic themes. In this way, the museum becomes a living history site that makes the past tangible and at the same time poses current questions about history. A visit to the Museum of Cultural History Magdeburg is therefore a journey through the ages - from Emperor Otto the Great to modern times - and an impressive experience between history, art and identity.
